Summary

Part time care assistant required, 21 hours/week on a rota/shift basis.
The candidate must be honest, reliable, flexible, committed, hardworking and be prepared to undertake the necessary training relevant for the post.
The candidate must work effectively as part of the Care Home Team to assist in providing high quality care for individual residents; whilst maintaining their dignity wherever possible. Additionally, duties are to assist in providing a universal nurturing, and caring atmosphere whilst undertaking general care assistant activities, as directed by the Care Home Management Team.
To assist the individual resident with their personal care including washing, bathing, dressing and toileting, ensuring that residents are socially presentable at all times.
To assist in the control of incontinence, providing comfort and dignity as required.
To assist residents with mobility issues, such as physical disabilities, ensuring that the relevant aids provided are used effectively.
To assist residents’ who are temporarily unwell or require End of Life Care.
To assist the Team Leader with the administering of medication, by offering support to the individual residents in accordance to the Care Plan.
To respond promptly to call bells, doors and telephone enquiries.
To assist and support the residents with rehabilitation activities, as per their Personal Care Plan.
To assist in providing the residents with a caring and stimulating environment; encouraging the continuation of their hobbies, interests or current activities wherever possible.
To assist in ensuring that the residents’ visitors receive a warm welcome, and provide them with refreshments, and any assistance that is required.
To assist in making and changing the residents’ bedding as required. Additionally, it is necessary to undertake light cleaning and tidying of their bedrooms, whilst maintaining respect for the residents’ possessions, this includes assistance of cleaning commodes.
To assist the residents’ during mealtimes, including serving and feeding where necessary.
To assist in the cleaning of the homes communal areas as the need arises, particularly lounge areas as required; and to support infection control, for example cleaning up spills immediately.
To work at all times, within the guidelines of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the Homes Health and Safety Policy, and the Employees’ Handbooks.
To undertake duties with regards to the Homes Fire Regulations Policy, as required.
To ensure readiness to commence work at the time stated on the Duty Rotas’, and not to abandon duty without permission from the Care Homes Management Team.
To adhere to the Care Homes Policy, that relates to personal appearance, and uniform policy whilst on duty, as necessary.
To attend handover, staff meetings and mandatory training sessions as required.
To take responsibility in receiving work allocation, this includes a list of residents that require care.
To recognise your own caring limitations, and to seek guidance from the Care Home Management Team as appropriate.
To ensure that personal hygiene is adopted at all times, including the wearing of aprons and gloves as necessary.
To assist in the implementation of the necessary daily logs before completing the shift.
To undertake any other duties in accordance to the job role, as required.
