Summary

Research Services

This full time post is available immediately on a fixed-term or secondment basis for 12 months from 1 August 2024. The role can be undertaken at 0.8 FTE and we also welcome job-share provided that combined the posts equate to 1.0 FTE.

This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home, as agreed with your line manager.

Summary of the role
Initiatives to support the ambitions of our people, to enrich our research culture and enable a dynamic research environment are critical to support the University of Exeter’s values and enriches employment, research, studying and learning experiences here and in the community. Across the sector it is a time of new ideas and the sharing of good practice to support a thriving research culture. In preparation for REF2029, it is also a time of much dialogue of appropriate and beneficial ways in which research culture and environment can be supported and how progress by an institution might be assessed. At Exeter we are keen to establish a one-year post (in the first instance, subject to approval) to support institutional discussions and preparations for the People, Culture and Environment element of REF2029. We are also keen to ensure a focus on research EDI, in particular the EDI-related aspects of REF preparations. This includes supporting the developing of EDI-related training to underpin research assessments and supporting the delivery of the recommendations of the of the Research and Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI) Working Group.

About you
• You will provide professional advice and guidance on EDI initiatives within a research context and in the analysis of research-related EDI data.
• Your advice, support and guidance will be based on a deep and informed understanding of the issues relating to research.
• You will interact with staff from diverse communities with empathy
• You will be a strong communicator and good at problem-solving
• You will be passionate about driving change within research environments

The post holder will be based within Research Services’ Strategy, Policy and Performance team but will work very closely with the Research Services’ Researcher Development and Research Culture team and the University’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team.
