Summary

Learner Support Assistant

Hull

Salary: £15,107.74 per annum

28.5 hours per week, 36 weeks per year

As our Learner Support Assistant, you will provide a high quality and confidential customer-focussed support service to learners with additional learner support needs, working closely with the wider learner services department to ensure the service meets the needs of learners. All additional support will be provided in line with the Assessment of Need, and will include support, in and out of class, including some areas of personal assistance if required. The LSA will work alongside curriculum staff to provide additional support within a managed classroom environment.

The post holder will enable learners to study independently and achieve their learning goals. The LSA will work collaboratively with their Team Leader and curriculum staff to meet the needs of learners who have identified learning needs.

Responsibilities of our Learner Support Assistant:


To support learners with additional learning needs to access the college sites and services, andintegrate into their learning environment
To support learners with neuro-diverse and complex needs with strategies to enable independentlearning and study
To support academic staff with appropriate information, advice and guidance to ensure adherenceto the assessment of need/pen portrait/EHCP and the role of learner support assistant
To work closely with academic staff and the wider learner & customer services department as ateam to provide reasonable adjustment for learners with additional needs
To assist learners who have personal care needs in line with HCUK guidelines
To record daily support records in a timely manner and attend relevant staff meetings with theTeam Leader, SEND Co-ordinator and/or Director of Learner & Customer Services
To provide relevant information and assist Team Leaders with monitoring and identifying learnerneed where necessary


What we’re looking for in our Learner Support Assistant:


GCSE English & Maths Grade C or equivalent
An understanding of the additional learning support needs of learners
Accessing and navigating confidently around college ICT systems
Confident, approachable and friendly disposition with strong interpersonal skills
Creates a positive image of the college through the delivery of high quality customer focussed service
Work successfully with colleagues at all levels of an organisation to achieve results
Receive, store and transmit information (written, electronic, oral), and to understand and convey information which might be sensitive, and/or need careful explanation or interpretation in a timely manner
