Further information:
A friendly, sociable personal assistant is required to support a happy 11-year-old boy living in the HU3 area of Hull. The appointed PA will be a companion and facilitator, supporting him to access activities which he enjoys, such as visiting the seaside and indoor soft play areas.

The boy has autism, and learning and co-ordination difficulties, so it would be helpful if you have some prior understanding of autism. You will be very aware that he has no health and safety awareness, particularly whilst crossing the road and you must ensure his health and safety is of paramount importance at all times. In addition, you must be aware that he does not feel pain, so care needs to be taken if he falls over. He tends to fill his mouth too full when eating, which can lead to a risk of choking, so he needs close supervision with food.

“Owing to the nature of this position, any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory checking report from the Disclosure and Barring Service, the cost of which will be met by the local authority/employer.”
