Up to £34,700 depending on skills and experience

As a Staff Nurse in the Ophthalmology department at our Nuffield Health Chichester Hospital, you'll drive the standard in patient care. You're registered with the appropriate governing body, plus you bring the qualifications and experience that are relevant to your registration, including NMC. You also have post-registration experience.

As a an Ophthalmology Staff Nurse, you will:

  • Be flexible, motivated, an excellent communicator and team worker
  • Join a close-knit team headed by our director of clinical services on our consultant-led department
  • Fully understand and pay close attention to each patient's needs
  • Work directly with some of the best clinical talent around
  • Gain valuable experience of new practices, equipment and facilities
  • Collaborate with practitioners across other departments to ensure continuity in patient care
  • To deliver evidence based care as part of their role to the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care and procedures for which they are competent to practice without direct supervision.
  • To act as deputy to the Ophthalmic Clinical Nurse Specialist to provide knowledge and skills to the rest of the team.
  • The post holder will act as leader within the ophthalmic outpatient's team and be professionally accountable for the standard of care in that department.
  • The post holder will be actively involved in assisting with intravitreal injections and minor procedures to patients.
  • Administer and maintain custody of all medicines, including controlled drugs, adhering at all times to the Hospital Policy on Administration of Medicines.
  • Perform ophthalmic examinations/tests, following training and competency assessment. The post holder will be be responsible for the assessment and development of care needs, delivery and implementation of nursing care to a group of eye patients. You will be required to maintain high standards of clinical care and performance .
  • Participate in training and development to ensure you are equipped to fulfil the needs of the service.
