Summary

Support Assistant - Autism Specialist

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate support assistant to join our team at a SEN School in Trafford. This role will provide you with an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our students with Special Educational Needs, helping them achieve their full potential and succeed academically and emotionally.

Responsibilities: As an support assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students with various educational and behavioural difficulties, including Dyslexia, Autism, ADHD, and Global Developmental Delay.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing individual and group support to facilitate students' physical, emotional, and educational development, in collaboration with teachers and educational professionals
- Establishing supportive relationships with students and parents to ensure effective communication and partnership between school and home
- Delivering pre-determined educational activities and work programs, adhering to specific guidelines and promoting independent learning
- Encouraging the acceptance and inclusion of students with special needs to support their overall achievement and development
- Monitoring and evaluating students' progress, providing feedback to relevant stakeholders, and maintaining accurate records of achievements
- Supporting teachers in the implementation of individual education plans and ensuring students' needs are met effectively

Qualifications & Experience: To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Educated to NVQ level 3 / AS or A2 level or equivalent experience
- Other professional development in the area of SEND is desirable
- Proven experience of working with students, achieving successful progress and outcomes
- Knowledge and understanding of how children learn, inclusive practices, and the SEND Code
- Experience of collaborating with parents to support students' needs and awareness of issues related to equal opportunities
