This is an exciting opportunity in paediatric haematology and stem cell transplant and gene therapy as a Senior Locally Employed Doctor at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

These posts are one of a number of fellowship posts in our department of Haematology/Oncology and are specifically designed to give the successful candidate more exposure to paediatric haematologic oncology and BMT. Our BMT programme has specific expertise in stem cell and gene therapy of metabolic diseases, stem cell therapy of refractory leukaemia and CAR-T in ALL.

This is an academic programme and the candidate will have the opportunity to prepare research for presentation at international meetings, and for publication. is designed to give the successful candidate a thorough grounding in paediatric oncology, general and malignant haematology, clinical stem cell transplantation and gene therapies, including CAR-T gene therapies.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to rotate through the specialties in their time at RMCH. There will be out-of-hours cover of all specialities.



This post is suitable for individuals seeking a period of higher training in Paediatric Haematology/ BMT or Paediatric Oncology to develop their clinical skills in a highly regarded and internationally renowned service.



The appointees would spend most of the time on the wards and be responsible for the clinical care of patients in the abovementioned sub-specialties at RMCH. During this time, the successful candidate will be attending respective ward rounds and MDT meetings and providing ward cover as well as attending clinics and outpatient care. Clinical ward cover is also expected out of hours and is remunerated and is on the paediatric middle grade paediatric haematology and oncology rota, where cover will include cover of children with leukaemia, solid tumours and children with benign haematology diagnoses as well as those undergoing BMT and gene therapy/ CAR-T therapy. Cover will always be available with the relevant consultant haematologist or oncologist.
