Summary

OFFICE CLERK/RECEPTIONIST

Cover required on a Thursday, Friday & Saturday.
However, flexibility is required to work on other days should the need arise.

Part-time – Minimum 3 Days per week. A rota system will be organised in joint collaboration with our existing staff and management.

Rate of Pay: from £11.44 per hour.
Shifts & Alternate Weekend duties: 08.00 – 3.00 pm / 3.00pm – 10.00pm.

Working in the catering trade can be enjoyable and bring variety.
As a Hotel we are open 365 days a year and business can be unpredictable, we therefore like our staff to be adaptable and flexible with their roles, days and times or work.

Christmas is also a busy time and regardless of the days an employee normally works, all staff will be required to be available to work some time over the Christmas period.

This position would suit someone with a friendly demeanour, good telephone manner and good organisational, office and computer skills (Word, Excel & Outlook).

You will be taking telephone and computer bookings via email, typing letters, daily menus etc. You will be filing (paper & computer), assisting the management with typing reports etc. Keeping the Reception, Office & Cupboards tidy and well stocked with stationary. You will be liaising with our regular and residential guests (mostly senior citizens) on a daily basis.

We all work as a team at The Northern Hotel, this is a small business and you may be required to help in other departments as the need arises, so you need to be willing, flexible and adaptable. As this is both a hotel and provider of long term accommodation we are open 365 days of the year, you will be expected to be available to work over the Christmas period (with enhanced pay).

MAIN DUTIES & SKILLS
We are looking for an experienced, responsible person to join our workforce and help us with the ongoing administration of our front office. Hotel experience is desirable but not essential as your years of office and administration skills should be transferable.
• Minimum of 10 years office administration experience.
• Computer Skills: Word, Excel, Outlook
• Excellent English Language and Telephone manner
• Organisational skills to handle paper & digital filing
• Experienced in Letter Writing and email communication
• Ability to think quickly and multitask
• Be an effective communicator with the ability to stay calm
• Money Management and financial record keeping, manual & computerised
• A positive and friendly personality dealing directly with the public
• Be committed and dedicated to running an efficient Office.
• Be adaptable as you may be required to work in other departments.
• Capable of working independently, taking on responsibility and adapting to situations that may arise.

Essentially we looking for someone to help keep our Front Office structured and well organised. You will be working with the family managers and two other Receptionist but will have your own specific office responsibilities. As a small business we like our staff to be willing to adapt to varied tasks and hours should the need arise. For example, you may be need to help serve drinks in the bar or cover duties on a week-end or evening if someone is on holiday, or help out in the Restaurant or House-keeping. This can provide a very varied and enjoyable environment in which to work but please consider if your home life will adapt to the flexibility we require.
