Looking for an exciting new challenge within a Pharmacy Aseptic service?

If you have a keen attention to detail, a flexible approach to working, good communication skills and the ability to work in a busy and demanding working environment, then look no further!

We are seeking a Band 2 Pharmacy Support Worker to join our friendly Pharmacy Aseptic Team at our Grimsby Hospital.

You will be supported in your development through our in-house bespoke training plan, which will include dispensing and the ability to prepare intravenous chemotherapy / parental nutrition and other various tasks within our Aseptic unit.

The Trust opened a new high specification Aseptic Preparation Suite at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby in April 2017 which provides treatments for patients to both Scunthorpe and Grimsby sites.

The person will need to be enthusiastic with good communication skills.Once you have passed our bespoke training programme (circa 12-16 months), you will progress to Band 3 higher-level Pharmacy Support Worker within the team (see Band 3 job description attached for information). Those with relevant previous experience within an Aseptic Service may progress quicker.

Main Responsibilities
• Preparation and dispensing of chemotherapy, CIVAS and parenteral nutrition products within the Aseptic Preparation Suite.
• Assist with the delivery of the Clinical Trials service.
• Assist with the environmental monitoring and cleaning of the Aseptic Preparation Suite.

The candidate may be required to work flexibly in supporting the Trust’s directive of 7 day working, participating in rotas and / or shift working as necessary including weekend and bank holiday working.

Adhere to associated hygiene and clothing requirements of individual work areas. This may involve:

• Removal of jewellery
• Wearing of protective clothing including hoods, facemasks and gloves.
• Working in a confined space for up to periods of 3 hours at a time
• Prepares cytotoxic medicines under COSHH guidelines
