Opportunity… We are currently recruiting for a Planning Manager, who will devise, update and deliver a strategy to manage all aspects of the planning approvals process and will also manage and coordinate the Project’s compliance with its principal land agreements in order to implement and deliver the Nuclear New Build programme at Hinkley Point C.
This will include managing detailed consenting activities under the Development Consent Order (DCO) and associated permissions, as well as advising the Project teams on any further consents and approvals that may be required to support the Project during construction.

You will be managing and coordinating the strategy for the renegotiation of the principal land agreements alongside supporting the external legacy and delivery of the site restoration.

What you’ll be doing…


- Coordinate permissions, consents, and discharges to meet project objectives.
- Collaborate with internal teams, delivery managers and contractors.
- Engage stakeholders and negotiate with planning authorities.
- Support landowner discussions regarding principal land agreements.
- Manage planning activities for efficiency and compliance.
- Provide advice to onsite teams and ensure adherence to planning conditions.
- Develop an integrated planning approvals strategy covering DCO requirements.
- Lead planning strategy for project phase transitions.
- Facilitate community engagement and negotiations on contributions and obligations.
- Serve as planning SME, ensuring compliance and effective communication.


Who you are…

- Qualified to Degree standard, or equivalent, in a related subject.
- Knowledge of, and experience of managing, a supply chain to support/advise on the detail of planning requirements and applications.
- Strong political sensitivity skills, people management skills, relationship building, influencing and collaborative work style developed through working in complex and team-focused environments.
- Recent experience working at management level in a major project planning role in the UK.
- Strong commercial knowledge of complex business operations, managing regulators and developing processes.
- Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements for major infrastructure development planning applications
- Chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute
- Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team with a matrix management model
- Demonstrable experience of negotiating with planning officials
