Royal Bolton Hospital Foundation Trust are looking for a Advanced Practitioner Mammographer (band 8a - pending AfC job matching) to join their screening and symptomatic breast imaging service. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced mammographer with advanced clinical skills and knowledge to develop and support the delivery of breast services.

This role requires an individual with passion, commitment, excellent communication skills, vision and the desire to drive standards and service improvements. You will support the breast services and divisional management team, in providing high quality, advanced clinical care.

You will support the senior management team within the breast imaging departments to deliver a service that meets both national and local performance targets and standards. The post holder will be a key stakeholder in the development and improvement of enhanced and advanced practice undertaken by clinical colleagues.

The post holder will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to support effective strategic and operational management in delivering a robust, safe and forward thinking service for service users with the allocated resources available.

The Advanced Practitioner Mammographer will take an active role in research and development, training and education and leadership and management. They will be an autonomous practitioner with the clinical skills, knowledge and education to support their practice. Continually evidencing and upholding the four pillars of advanced clinical practice.

Job Description

Personal Specification

Qualifications
• BSc or DCR in Diagnostic Radiography.
• MSc level learning within Mammography.
• Minimum of three advanced practice disciplines (including image interpretation, interventional procedures, breast ultrasound).
• State Registration with the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC).

Experience
• Evidence of working at enhanced practitioner level in mammography.
• Extensive independent clinical practice in the speciality of mammography.
• Evidence of autonomous and independent practice.
• Experience of teaching, training, educating other enhanced and/or advanced practitioners.
• Experience of patient review and assessment including history taking and clinical examination.
• Experiencing of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Being able to communicate professionally and effectively.
• Ability to demonstrate and understand the principles of mammography.

Knowledge
• An extensive and proven knowledge base in breast imaging.
• An in depth understanding of the NHSBSP and the cancer pathways (BPTP and FDS).
• Knowledge of a range of relevant medical conditions and their management.
• An understanding of clinical governance and evidence based practice.
• Knowledge of recent NHS &Trust developments and their impact on the service.
• Understanding of confidentiality and data protection.

Skills
• Ability to uphold the four pillars of advanced practice and to be able to evidence this periodically.
• Proven ability to deliver effective, high quality and efficient patient care.
• Analytical skills, ability to analyse complex data and think strategically to deliver a diagnostic result.
• Interpersonal skills both written and verbal.
• Able to demonstrate initiative and judgment in identifying key issues.
• Effective decision making.
