Summary

If you are a dynamic psychologist or therapist with a passion for community CAMHS and innovative ways of working, we have an exciting opportunity for you.

This post is based in North Camden Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (OpenMinded). The postholder will promote the emotional wellbeing of children, young people and families within Camden. The postholder will contribute psychology input to the team, including: direct support for children and families; specialist supervision of other staff including clinical/counselling/educational psychology trainees; consultation and training for staff at a designated school; consultation, teaching and training for staff within health, education, social care and third sector organisations.

You will need experience of working with children, young people and families from a diverse range of inner-city communities in the area of mental health, from within either health, education or social care (statutory or third sector).

The postholder will be able to access the well-established support and supervision available in the team and Trust for Psychologists and CPD opportunities are encouraged in the team.

You will join the North Camden Community Team (NCCT), one of the two Camden CAMHS Community Teams - Open Minded, to promote the emotional wellbeing of children, young people and their families. You will join a multi-disciplinary team consisting of Clinical Psychologists, Family and Systemic Psychotherapists, Child & Adolescent Psychotherapists, Social Workers, Psychiatrists and many trainees studying at Tavistock Centre. We are proud to offer a dynamic, innovative and needs-led service with strong community links. We have a varied caseload of clients ranging from those who require preventative intervention and to those presenting with a high level of risk and complexity. We work closely with the multi-agency network and offer CAMHS input in schools.

Camden CAMHS is one of the pilot sites for the Trailblazers’ initiatives. We work alongside the clinical intake team, Mental Health Support Teams and emotional wellbeing pathway, which are fully integrated in the community teams.

You will provide specialist supervision of staff including clinical/counselling/educational psychology trainees; consultation, teaching and training for staff within health, education, social care and third sector organisations. You will be working in designated schools (for up to one day a week) to provide CAMHS input. Experience, knowledge and skills in treating child and adolescent mental health issues using a CBT approach (including Third Wave interventions) are essential for this role.
