Summary

Your new company
Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting an Ofsted rated "Good" Primary and Nursery school in Chester as they require a motivated and experienced SEN teaching assistant to support a pupil in year 2 with autism on a 1:1 basis. This is a long-term role required due to internal sickness.

Your new role
In your new role as an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting a pupil in year 2 with autism on a 1:1 basis. You will be this child's main point of contact throughout the school day, meeting them at the school gate at the start of the day, and walking them back to their parents/guardian at the end of the day. This pupil can trigger and escalate due to their needs, so you will be required to effectively identify and manage their triggers to aid in behaviour management, removing them from the classroom as required and utilising the sensory room. This pupil is also non-verbal, so the use of PECs is required, Makaton would be advantageous.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have referenceable experience working with children and young people with complex needs, as well as:

  • Previous experience working with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorders)
  • Makaton training is advantageous but not essential
  • An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential

What you'll get in return
If you are successful with your application, you will receive the full support, dedication, and guidance of a senior DfE accredited recruitment consultant, as well as a wide range of benefits, which include:

  • Free training
  • Competitive rate of pay
  • Full holiday entitlement
  • Pension scheme
  • Access to exclusive vacancies
  • Refer a Friend scheme
