Job summaryThis is an exciting post, which combines all the principle sub-specialties of clinical pharmacology with an extensive general medical practice and a selected acute medical intake. The Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (CPT) team is responsible for the management of up to 15 general medical in-patient beds, the management of in-patient poisoned patients and provides specialist out-patient and in-patient reviews relating to: adverse drug reactions; hypertension; therapeutics, including prescription review, and toxicology.
The CPT consultants provide expertise to the All Wales Therapeutics and Toxicology Centre, which provides advise to the Welsh Government and NHS Wales on access to medicines; medicines optimization; health technology appraisal; patient safety and pharmacovigilance.
The CPT team is closely involved in academic work of Cardiff University; Cardiff Metropolitan University and the University of South Wales. There are opportunities to be involved in clinical trials; basic and clinical research; hypertension research and the teaching of undergraduate and post-graduates.
Main duties of the jobYou will provide a Clinical Pharmacology Service at Cardiff and Vale UHB, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness and promotion of health.
