Summary
Learning Support Assistant - Barking & Dagenham
This role is based in Barking and is a specialist SEND provision, who are looking for passionate Learning Support Assistants to join their team!
It is a special school from age 4 to 16 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and SLD (Severe Learning Disabilities)
There are multiple positions available currently - both full and part time, so please enquire for more information.
We will accept applications from candidates with a range of experience - experience within an SEND setting is desirable but not essential and training can be provided. It would also be beneficial to have experience working with challenging behaviours, so anyone from a youth or support worker background would be encouraged to apply. Whilst experience is not necessary, the ideal candidate must have a desire and passion for working with children with ASD, PMLD or SLD.
Your Role:
- Supporting learners on a one-to-one basis often with complex learning needs
- Working with other support staff to engage pupils in class
- Providing feedback to teachers and parents
- You will be assisting pupils with Complex Communication and Autism, SEMH, ADHD, Severe Learning Difficulties and other Learning Disabilities
What you will need:
- A range of behaviour management techniques
- To have worked with learners with a range of needs
- The ability to engage a young person in learning through a range of methods
- To be able to commit to working at the school for long period of time
- A resilient attitude
