Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join a talented team of 37 consultant gastroenterologists and hepatologists. This post is to support the development of luminal gastroenterology services for Manchester.

Our department delivers comprehensive gastrointestinal services at Manchester Royal Infirmary, Wythenshawe Hospital and North Manchester General Hospital, along with outpatient services at Trafford and Withington Community Hospital.

You will be joining one of the largest gastroenterology and endoscopy services in England with, for example, the largest IBD biological service in the country. We provide tertiary services to 3.5 million people.

We are keen to see applications from colleagues with interests in any aspect of luminal gastroenterology, but we have identified specific needs for further development in IBD, nutrition and upper GI gastroenterology.

The post-holder will assume a continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge and the proper functioning of his/her department. The post-holder will have full secretarial support and a dedicated office space with IT facilities.

The post-holder must take reasonable care of his/her own health and safety and any other personnel who may be affected by his/her omission. Trust policies and regulations must be followed at all times.

We’ve also created a digitally enabled organisation to improve clinical quality, patient & staff experience, operational effectiveness & driving research, and innovation through the introduction of Hive; our Electronic Patient Record system which launched in September 2022.

We’re proud to be a major academic Research Centre & Education provider, providing you with a robust infrastructure to encourage and facilitate high-quality research programmes. What’s more, we’re excited to be embarking on our Green Plan which sets out how MFT continues to play its part in making healthcare more sustainable.

To find out more about the key responsibilities and the specific skills and experience you’ll need, take a look at the Job Description & Person Specification attachments under the ‘Supporting Documents’ heading. So that you’re even more equipped to make an informed decision to apply to us, you’ll need to take time to read the ‘Candidate Essentials Guide’ that sits with the Job Description and Person Specification. This document provides you with details about the Trust, our benefits and outlines how ‘we care for you as you care for others’.
