Summary


The East & South East London NHS Pathology Partnership is a Pathology network formed across three NHS Trusts: Barts Health, Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.

The Cellular Pathology Department at the Royal London Hospital is looking for someone with a positive attitude to working in a flexible manner.The department provides diagnostic and screening services for the whole of North East London and has a combined workload of 70,000 histology and 5,000 non-gynae cytology specimensThe successful candidate will be committed to supporting the clinical services of the Trust and meeting the needs of our patients. The laboratory is UKAS and HCPC accredited. Our commitment to supporting continuing professional development is evidenced by an excellent training record.

We are looking for a band 4 Associate Practitioner for this department. The duties will be varied on a rotational basis, but we need a person who can work accurately when under pressure to meet deadlines. This post would suit an individual with a minimum of A-levels in science subjects. They should have common sense, an ability to follow written protocol and an interest in science. They would be responsible for managing more junior MLA staff. The post will require an ability to work with human tissues of all kinds and a keen eye for detail and accuracy.

To carry out work in the Histology section of Cellular Pathology. The working hours will be 37.5 per week over standard core Agenda for Change hours.


The NHS East and South EastLondon PathologyPartnership  isan arms-length organisation providing pathology services to Barts Health NHS Trust, Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.  The Pathology Partnership is hosted by Barts Health.


The Pathology Partnership is based on well-established models for pathology networks, with the Royal London Hospital becoming the main hub laboratory for the network and Essential Service Laboratories (ESL) as a minimum at all other Hospital sites.


Pathology is made up of the following services - Blood Sciences including Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Biochemistry; Infectious Diseases including Microbiology and Virology; Cellular Pathology including Histopathology, non-gynae Cytology and mortuary services; Immunology; Cytogenetics and Molecular Haematology; Immunophenotyping; Clinical Transplantation and Retinoblastoma.
