Due to the partial retirement of the current post holder an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Technical Officer to join our Prep Services team. The successful applicant will support the clinical pharmacy service to our wards.

As a Pharmacy Assistant you will carry out a range of duties including the replenishment of Emergency boxes, the replenishment of pre packs, the processing of purchased pre packs and the restocking of ward medicine supplies.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills, who is able to work with our team to enhance patient care.

Main duties of the job include:
• The replenishment of pre packs to wards and departments
• The replenishment of emergency boxes
• To assist with the checking off of purchased pre packs
• To accurately over label pre pack stock as needed
• To participate in the supply of stock medication via the ward top up service, including automated medicines cabinets
• To accurately recycle medication supplied by the trust, ensuring stock is suitable for reuse

The post holder will be joining and working in a progressive pharmacy department with over 200 staff, which delivers near patient ward pharmacy services, has automated dispensing, electronic medicines management and has implemented electronic prescribing across the majority of the organisation.

• Assist with the day to day running and work load of Prep Services and Pharmacy Stores.
• To be responsible for the replenishment of emergency boxes across the trust.
• To be responsible for the replenishment of Pre packs to wards and departments.
• To be responsible for the management and replenishment of prescription pads for the Urgent care centres.
• To monitor outstanding requests for pre-packs, liaising with the pharmacy procurement team as appropriate.
• To maintain the appropriate records for the location of emergency boxes across the trust.
• To assist with checking off of purchased pre-packs in accordance with the appropriate procedure.
• To accurately over label pre-pack stock as appropriate and inputting data onto the pharmacy computer system.
• To participate in the supply of stock medication via the ward top up services, including automated medicines cabinets.

There is also a requirement to participate in the late night, weekend and bank holiday rota's.
