Site Based Site Agent (Wales)
The Role
Jones Bros are seeking a civil engineering Site Agent to join our growing team. Site based and reporting directly to the Project
Manager or Contract Manager, the successful candidate will work alongside the Site Foremen and Works Managers to support the
management and delivery of civil engineering projects across North Wales and the UK. However, with a flat management structure you
will be working within a flexible organisation where self-motivated and practical problem solvers will thrive. Working in a team,
you will be given plenty of exposure to a variety of matters in a supportive working environment to develop knowledge and
experience. Other key responsibilities include:
Health, Safety, and Environmental Management:
• Ensuring a “safety first” attitude underpins all operations, safeguarding the health and safety of personnel and visitors
on-site.
• Implementing and complying with company procedures and systems on quality, health & safety, and the environment on-site.
• Identifying and addressing environmental protection matters, implementing appropriate mitigating procedures and systems.
• Preparing quality, environmental, and health & safety construction plans promptly.
• Submitting necessary documentation for inclusion in the project health and safety file.
Project Planning and Management:
• Planning, measuring, monitoring, and reviewing the progress of contracts throughout the project’s lifespan, ensuring
compliance with budgets and programme.
• Supporting the management of the project delivery team to ensure the timely availability of plant, labour, subcontractors,
and materials to meet project timescales.
• Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications, ensuring accurate construction in accordance with client requirements.
• Providing sufficient and accurate information to site Works Management and Foremen for timely construction.
• Preparing and submitting weekly progress reports for review, including financial CVRs and forecasts to completion.
• Identifying potential problem areas and financial impacts in sufficient time to make adequate provisions within forecast
accounts.
Procurement and Financial Management:
• Managing procurement and payment of suppliers and subcontractors, monitoring their financial performance throughout the
project.
• Submitting interim and final accounts promptly.
• Supporting the resolution of contractual issues with clients and suppliers while maintaining good relationships.
Team Development and Mentoring:
• Mentoring and guiding junior team members and operatives to develop their construction competencies.
What we are looking for
Essential:
• HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Demonstrable experience as a Site Agent within the civil engineering construction industry, preferably on highways,
infrastructure, and drainage projects.
• Good organisational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, listening, and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project 2000.
• High level of written and verbal communication skills for report writing, preparing business management documents, and
participating in meetings.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret technical instructions in both mathematical and diagrammatic forms.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
• Good knowledge of LSS or NC4 surveying packages would be advantageous.
• Good knowledge of Project Costing Software and CAD.
