This expanded service will be working across the integrated pathway from acute to intermediate care services in the community, supporting patients with the care and rehabilitation they need, improving clinical outcomes and patient experience. To facilitate early discharge of patients following electivehip and knee surgery

To support early discharge of selected trauma patients

To participate in elective hip and knee pre assessment clinics as require

To undertake elective hip and knee clinical reviews post ward discharge, in designated clinics or in patient homes

To undertake specific support work to aid in the rehabilitation of patients

To assist the physiotherapists with complex cases that requires two people to treat.

To work unsupervised, reporting back on patient progress and informing the physiotherapist of any problems.

To assist in the induction of new assistant staff, students and rotational junior physiotherapists.

To accept patients referred by a physiotherapist and carry as own patient caseload. Monitor patient progression and make minor alterations to patient treatment programmes as required

To work in a variety of settings eg wards, clinics and patients homes
