Physical Stamina: This work will involve heavy lifting (e.g. tray of strawberries/cherries weigh up to 5 kg, a bucket of apples weigh approx. 12 kg, box of strawberry plants weigh up to 7 kg), pushing barrows with trays of picked fruit, a lot of bending, crouching and stretching will be involved on a frequent basis so requires someone who is physically strong, dexterous and able to perform repetitive tasks.
Accuracy: Fruit pickers must carefully, yet quickly, inspect fruit for signs of bad quality fruit.
This is a temporary fulltime role, 5-6 working days a week, including Saturdays, Sundays (weather permitting). Applicants need to be ready for early starts from 5am throughout the crop season and willing to work in poor weather conditions, as well as in hot weather and mud.
