About the role:
To work as part of a team assisting in the delivery of the Council’s Responsive Housing
Maintenance Service by carrying out repair and maintenance work on domestic dwellings and related assets. This includes work normally accepted within the building industry as that of an Electrician as well as work which by “normal definition” is that of other trade(s) which may reasonably be expected of any competent person engaged in building maintenance activities.
About you:
• Experience of carrying out maintenance or repair works in domestic / occupied properties.
• Good understanding of industry standards and good practice plus how to apply these in
the work environment.
• The ability to deal in an understanding way with members of the public, and other staff members.
• The ability to work alone, or as part of a team
• You will be an Experienced Qualified Electrician (e.g., Level 3 City & Guilds/NVQ) with
18th Edition Wiring, Inspect & Test (2391), with experience in a similar housing service role.
What you will do:
• Electrical PPM (pre-planned maintenance)
• Reactive repairs, and Remedial works
• Small installations
• Testing of existing installations
• Fault finding, and diagnostic work
• Completion of relevant electrical certificates.

Experience
Essential
• Previous experience of carrying out maintenance or repair works in domestic / occupied
properties.
Desirable
• Experience of working in a social housing environment
Knowledge
Essential
• Good understanding of industry standards and good practice plus how to apply these in
the work environment.
• To diagnose the cause of the majority of property defects and determine the appropriate
solution
• Health and safety issues affecting building maintenance
Qualifications and Training
Essential
• Experienced Qualified Electrician (e.g., Level 3 City & Guilds/NVQ) with 18th Edition
Wiring, Inspect & Test (2391), and experience in a similar housing services role
Desirable
• CITB Health & Safety
• Asbestos Level 2
Personal Qualities Essential
• Ability to deal in an understanding way with members of the public, and other staff members
• Ability to work alone, or as part of a team
• Ability and willingness to co-operate with co-ordinating staff as directed

Your responsibilities will be:
1. To work as part of a team assisting in the delivery of the Council’s Responsive Housing
Maintenance Service by carrying out repair and maintenance work on domestic
dwellings and related assets. This includes work normally accepted within the building
industry as that of an Electrician as well as work which by “normal definition” is that of
other trade(s) which may reasonably be expected of any competent person engaged in
building maintenance activities.
2. As a focused Electrician, we will look to you to carry out electrical PPM (pre-planned
maintenance), reactive repairs, remedial works, small installations, testing of existing
installations, fault finding, diagnostic work, and completion of relevant electrical
certificates.
3. You will also be responsible for carrying out surveys and complete reports as required
by management ensuring that all technical and compliance paperwork is completed and
up to date.
4. Testing, inspecting and certification of all works in accordance with NICEIC regulations.
You will be trusted and assisting in ensuring delivery of a safe, customer focused, cost
effective, efficient, and compliant service to meet legislation and legal obligations.
5. As directed and appointed, attend properties where repair issues have been reported or
identified, consider what is necessary and proportionate in the circumstances,
determine the appropriate remedial works necessary, complete as required and convey
this information to the coordinating team.
6. Testing, inspecting and certification of a considerable number of council houses in
accordance with BS7671 18th Edition and to updated amendment.
