Why not join our expanding Medicines Team at the North West Ambulance Service in this new role leading on procurement of medicines supplies and co-ordinating medicines related projects across our trust. This job is for someone who can be an effective and inspiring leader to an already established team.

Do you have experience in leading and managing projects to help drive forward changes to service provision and drive new innovative technologies into NWAS.

Do you like variety? You would also be involved in the training and education of staff within our team and to our operational ambulance teams including undergraduates embarking on their paramedic careers.

Do you like things to be right? You would be involved in devising and conducting audits to give us the assurance that we are doing it right and demonstrate compliance with regulations and processes.

This is a permanent role based at the NWAS Medicine Supply Hub site in Preston working 37.5 hours a week. The service operating hours are 7am to 5pm with occasional Saturday working required (approx. 4 per year). Normal working hours will be Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Candidates should have experience and knowledge in:
• Procurement of medicines including where to order supplies from including navigating stock shortages. Understanding of procurement frameworks is desirable.
• Project management - developing project plans, engaging with stakeholders & leading projects to be delivered to a high standard.
• Analysing complex data and being able to summarise it into high level reports for multiple audiences.
• Understanding relevant medicines legislation and regulations and how to apply them and assess compliance against them.

You must possess exceptional organisational, written and verbal communication skills with an inspirational can-do leadership attitude. You must be a good educator/ trainer to provide the foundation for driving excellent medicines management across NWAS. The role is a non-patient facing role but you will be working within a diverse multidisciplinary team.

Due to the geographical nature of NWAS there will be an expectation the post holder will be confident in driving long distances and working autonomously to fulfil parts of the role. You will work alongside other pharmacy technicians, pharmacists and medicines assistants within the Medicines Team.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
