Applications are invited for an exciting new post of "Apprentice Healthcare Science Practitioner - Medical Engineering",

This is a 3 year degree apprenticeship, upon successful completion the post-holder will transfer onto a substantive Band 5 Clinical Engineering Technologist post.

Between September 2024 and July 2027 the post holder will undertake a level 6 degree Apprentice Healthcare Science Practitioner (Clinical Engineering) course at the University West of England (UWE) in Bristol specialising in Medical Engineering, alongside work-based training within the Clinical Engineering Medical Equipment Servicing Units of Nottingham University Hospitals . Attendance at UWE is required for typically one week in each academic term (September, January & May) with one day a week virtual attendance. The Trust will pay the university fees associated with the degree course as well as travelling expenses, hotel accommodation and subsistence when in person attendance is required at UWE.

Main duties will include activities such as selection and evaluation, acceptance testing and installation, calibration, planned maintenance, repair, routine safety testing, decommissioning and disposal.

These services are provided for a defined range of medical equipment within the care of Clinical Engineering's medical equipment servicing team.

You will need to develop the required knowledge, skills and attitudes of a Healthcare Science Practitioner in accordance with the content of both the education programme and the workplace training programme.

You will need to attend training sessions on-site or off-site provided by the apprenticeship training provider, participate in private study to support completion of academic coursework and exams, and produce a portfolio of evidence to meet the work-based competency and assessment requirements of this apprenticeship programme.

You will need to attend any internal on site, or external, off site, manufacturers technical training programmes as requested by the department to support your development and competency
