Exciting Opportunity - Town Maintenance Officer (Totnes)
Salary: £30,825 - £33,945 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Totnes Town Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Town Maintenance Officer to join our dedicated team. This is a hands-on role responsible for the upkeep and management of the Council's premises, grounds, and the general appearance of the town.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out general property maintenance and repair work
- Oversee and delegate tasks to the Maintenance Assistant
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations
- Provide excellent customer service to members of the public, local traders, and partner organisations
- Utilise problem-solving skills to address maintenance issues
- Perform physical tasks, including handling heavy loads and working at heights
- Basic IT skills (emails, Word, Excel)
Requirements:
- Proven experience in general property maintenance
- Comprehensive understanding of Health & Safety regulations
- Friendly and helpful customer service manner
- Trustworthy and conscientious approach
- Ability to work independently, both indoors and outdoors
- Local knowledge of Totnes (desirable)
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 9am - 4:30pm (with 30-minute lunch break). Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.
Location: Totnes Town Centre
