Summary
The PEMC Research Group has undergone a significant period of growth and now has over 200 members, with over 24 academics (including 9 full professors), and approximately 130 PhD students, post-doctoral research fellows and applications engineers. The group has world-class facilities for experimental work including circa 3500m2 research space with construction and testing capabilities up to 5MW.
The purpose of the role is to contribute to projects with key industrial partners in the field of electrical machines. Knowledge in topics related to testing electrical machines, drives and materials are required. This is an innovative and growing area of research, and we are open to applicants who may have alternative transferable skills to contribute to this area. Here are some examples of the type of expertise we are looking for, however this list is not exhaustive and exclusive:
Skilled in coding / programming – MATLAB, Python, or relevant packages
Knowledge of designing, planning, and implementing test methods for and testing rotating machines and electrical drive systems, test rig, or similar.
Good understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes, and design for manufacture.
Knowledge of developing, applying and delivering experimental and modelling research methodologies and techniques
Candidates should have bachelor’s in electrical / Electronic / Mechatronics / Instrumentation (or relevant) Engineering.
The post will be offered on a full-time (36.25 hours per week) contract for 24 months. Job share arrangements may be considered.
