Summary

Electrical Installation Engineer (MEICA)

The Role:

As Electrical Installation Engineer, you will bring demonstrable electrical installation experience and practical skills to the team. Working closely with the Project Manager and Senior Electrical Engineer, you will ensure that all electrical installation activities are planned and executed to meet the project requirements in a safe and cost-effective manner.

You will be accountable for the efficient planning and execution and quality of your electrical installation aspects of the projects you are working on. Barhale MEICA Solutions is a UK & National business, there may be a requirement to work anywhere across the UK from time to time. This will be limited as we are keen to keep staff close to home as much as practically possible.

You will work with the project and site team on all aspects of planning and onsite electrical installation activities, within the agreed constraints of time, quality, and cost, whilst maintaining the relationships with the client’s operational staff and an excellent Health Safety and Environmental performance. You will also contribute to customer satisfaction and ensure quality is achieved at all times.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Electrical installation on various Barhale projects in and around our client regions across the UK.
  • Be responsible for the health and safety of the commissioning phase of the project.
  • Develop relationships with the client to ensure a smooth delivery and handover.
  • Responsible for providing the Commissioning Manager & Project Manager with progress updates and raise concerns where necessary.
  • Ensure the electrical installation is to the appropriate levels of quality and to standards and manufacturers best practice.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills to positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the company.
  • Produce and review Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all electrical installation-based activities.
  • Assist the production of electrical installation plans, inspection test plans and training manuals.
  • Co-ordinate with the systems integration team to carry out all Site Acceptance Tests and Telemetry commissioning.
  • Reviewing P&ID diagrams and provide strategies to commission plant and equipment into existing processes in line with client specifications without compromising process and reducing risk.
  • Attendance at site meetings with representatives from our clients engineering and operational teams.
  • The electrical installation, interfacing, and setting to work of equipment
  • Undertake or supervise the NICEIC electrical installation testing to C& G 2391 as requested.
  • Demonstration of electrical installations of plant to our clients’ representatives to gain plant sign off prior to takeover.
  • Completion of electrical installation & commissioning records and diaries ensuring that all progress and equipment settings are recorded for the O&M manuals.
  • To assist the design team and prepare electrical designs ensuring compliance with the current IEE regulations and all other relevant specifications.

  • MEICA Director, Regional Managers, Contracts Managers, and Project Managers, Senior Electrical Installation Engineer.

  • Client’s site, commissioning & engineering & technical assurance teams.

Person Specification:

The successful candidate is likely to meet all the following criteria:

  • Excellent communication skills harnessing the ability to effectively work with our Barhale MEICA team, 3rd parties and Barhale MEICA & Civil clients.
  • A team player with the ability to co-ordinate project-related activities with clients’ consultants and 3rd
  • Good organisational skills.

Qualifications:

  • City & Guilds - Level 3 Certificate in the requirements for electrical installations BS7671 18th edition 2382-18.
  • C&G 2365 Electrical essential, 2394 & 2395 Inspection & Testing (desirable).
  • City & Guilds - AM2 (Achievement measured test) qualification.
  • City & Guilds - Combined 2391-52 initial and periodic inspection & testing qualifications or equivalent (desirable).
  • Ability to communicate Internally and externally at all levels.
  • IT literate and confident using full Office 365 suite.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation regarding safe work practise.
  • SSSTS / SMSTS.
  • CSCS card.
  • 1st Aid trained.
  • Significant industrial electrical installation background with some commissioning experience.
  • Understanding the importance of promoting a safety culture on site.

Desirable Requirements:

  • WIMES Standards familiarisation.
  • Experience of working within the utilities industry especially Water & Wastewater.
  • Strong communication skills – both written and oral.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Water & Wastewater Industry background.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office package.
  • LV or HV trained or experienced (not essential).
  • Thames Water Safety Passport (desirable).
  • EUSR Water Hygiene card (desirable).
  • CP1/2 - Confined Space.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office package.
