What is the role?



The fundamental aim of the Active Schools Network is to offer children and young people the opportunities and motivation to adopt active, healthy lifestyles, now and into adulthood.


Under the direction of the Team Leader for Sport and Physical Activity, develop an infrastructure to recruit, support and sustain a network of volunteers, coaches, leaders and teachers who in turn deliver physical activity and sport before, during and after school and in the wider community.


Deliver on the objectives of the South Ayrshire Physical Activity and Sport Strategy.

The Grade of this post is Grade 2 / Level 8; the hourly rate is from £18.52 to £20.18 and the annual salary is from £33,799 to £36,828. This post is based within Ayr Academy. Please note this post is temporary until 31 August 2025.


As part of this Active Schools Co-Ordinator role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing sport and physical activity opportunities for care experienced young people and their families across South Ayrshire.


Working pattern will be as follows:


Monday to Friday - 8.30am - 4.00pm


Regular evenings and weekend work required.


This post is considered to be Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) (PVG) Act 2007. Accordingly the preferred candidate will be required to become a member of the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if already a Scheme member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made.
