Summary


Our Technical Cardiology team is expanding. There is an opening for a Specialist Invasive Cardiac Physiologist [Band 6]. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Cardiac Physiologist seeking to develop their career within Invasive Cardiology. The successful applicant will join our dynamic and progressive team of physiologists to provide a full range of tertiary centre cardiac procedures. This includes a full range of PCI procedures (including OCT, IVUS, rotablation, pressure wire and Shockwave), structural procedures (TAVI, PFO, MITRACLIP, LAAO, ASD and VSD closure), Electrophysiology Service (Conventional EP, 3D mapping, VT ablation, AF ablation (Cryo/ RF/ Qdot) and a full Cardiac Device implant and follow-up service (Brady, Tachy, CRT, S-ICD, Micra, formal system extraction).

Our team will support your professional development by encouraging exposure to all areas of invasive cardiology and promoting the completion of BHRS and IBHRE certifications.


The post holder will work as a senior member of the Invasive Cardiology Physiology Team. They will work within the Invasive Cardiology team delivering a professional service, which meets the needs of the Directorate, and the general clinical needs of the Trust. They will work independently to undertake specialised physiological tests on patients to inform clinical diagnostic and support treatment. Support will be provided to develop competencies in areas that are new or unfamiliar.

The post holder will also be required to support the training of junior members of the physiologist team and to support the senior management team in the day to day running of the department.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Invasive Cardiology on-call rota on successful completion of local competencies.

The post holder will work as a senior member of the Invasive Cardiology Physiology Team. They will work within the Invasive Cardiology team delivering a professional service, which meets the needs of the Directorate, and the general clinical needs of the Trust.
• Independently undertake specialised physiological tests on patients to inform clinical diagnostic and support treatment.
• Interpret clinical data to provide factual clinical reports.
• Undertake physiological tests and procedures.
• Provide clinical supervision and training of trainee staff and other professionals
• Undertake ongoing CPD activity
• Participate in regular clinical audit of activity and undertake research and development activity
• Undertake additional designated responsibilities such as ordering and stock control and to actively contribute toward the smooth running of an efficient and high quality service
• Support junior cardiac physiologists working in all areas providing assistance and troubleshooting as required
• Contribute to departmental development, training programmes and organisation both in short and long term
• Contribute to the Invasive Cardiology on-call rota

The post holder may be expected to work across both Trust sites.
