An exciting fixed term opportunity has arisen to join the HIV, Sexual and Reproductive team in the Harrison Wing Department at Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust from 01 September 2024:
• Band 8a Fixed Term Highly Specialist Pharmacist - HIV, Sexual & Reproductive Health (SRH)

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative pharmacist who has continuous specialist HIV pharmacist experience at Band 7 or above level. For current Band 7 pharmacists, ideally, you would have 18+ months of Band 7 (any speciality) experience.

The post will suit individuals who would thrive in working autonomously and collaboratively as a strong team player with every member of the HIV and SRH MDTs and working across the traditional boundaries of the pharmacy profession.

Summary
• To lead, deliver, develop and evaluate clinical pharmacy services to HIV, and SRH patients in accordance with the objectives set between the Directorate General Manager, Service Manager, Clinical leads and Principal HIV, Sexual & Reproductive Health Pharmacist (and delegated responsible persons).
• To be a role model in the field of HIV & SRH and provide a consistently high pharmaceutical service for patients in line with corporate objectives.
• To deputise for the Principal Pharmacist
• To supervise the Band 7 pharmacists working in HIV &SRH, which may include line management duties
• To have a proactive role in the development of HIV Pharmacy service in line with evolving health-related quality of life HIV service development

The focus of the roles is mostly HIV although there will be some SRH involvement as requested by the Principal Pharmacist.

About the HIV and SRH departments and teams

Locations and Services

The HIV department (Harrison Wing Department) is based at Guy's hospital in London Bridge opposite the Shard and the train station and provides a service to approximately 4500 patients. The Harrison Wing Department hosts over 18 specialist HIV clinics, in addition to the pharmacist-led clinics, including:
• Neuro-cognition and Psychiatric
• Hepatitis co-morbidity
• Renal
• Living Well (for ageing and metabolic conditions)
• Young Adults
• VIP (vulnerable patients)
• Stigmatized patient (off-site clinic)
• Long-acting Injectables clinic

In addition to the above, the post holder may be involved in delivering the future pharmacist-led clinics such as polypharmacy/co-morbidity/frailty clinics to improve health-related quality of life in PLHIV.

The SRH department provides integrated sexual healthcare from three locations (Burrell Street Sexual Health Centre, Streatham Hill Clinic & Walworth Road Clinic). The post-holder will provide support virtually for the SRH department as necessary. The vacancy role is, in most part, focussed on HIV services.

The Pharmacy department has three hubs onsite with several spoke sites throughout the Trust and the community. The HIV Pharmacy is one of these spokes, integrated into the clinic, and this is where the post-holder will be based.

Key Relationships

The post holder will have regular contact with a wide range of clinical and managerial staff, administrative and clerical support staff at many levels and with patients, relatives and external agencies.

• Safe and clinically effective use of medicines in HIV & SRH
• Efficient use of drugs budget for HIV medicine
• Project management, quality improvement, education and research
• Supervision and possible line management of Band 7 pharmacists in HIV &SRH
• Deputising for the Principal Pharmacist
