Summary

L&Q’s Commercial team within Property Services are hiring a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join and lead their new team. The role reports directly into the Head of Commercial and will be responsible for up to team of 5 staff of differing experience levels


We are looking for a proven Commercial professional with extensive Senior Management experience to be responsible for the financial and contractual administration of projects carried out by L&Q, ensuring that general quantity surveying duties are performed to the highest standard and ensuring full contractual and monetary entitlement in the most advantageous terms L&Q.


The Managing Quantity Surveyor will manage principal and subcontractors and suppliers to always achieve best value to a programme whilst protecting the business contractually and providing accurate financial forecasting.


You will have experience in providing mitigation strategies for immediate implementation of all matters relating to contract and subcontract for review by Head of Commercial.

The position will be accountable for savings for department therefore experience of managing budgetary constraints using forensic cost control techniques will be essential to the success in the role. Strong analytical skills are also key and you must be highly numerate and have data interrogation skills.

In this role you will take full ownership of the department and lead, motivate, communicate with, develop, appraise and performance manage employees to ensure they are fully motivated to achieve best performance.

You will also support all Operational Colleagues and all other relevant colleagues to ensure that all significant project issues and correspondence and all necessary contractual processes have been observed. We require the post holder to have commercial awareness with good legal/contractual knowledge. You will be competent in the use of standard methods of measurement.

Ideally candidates will have a related degree or HNC level or and be able to demonstrate equivalent substantial experience to be considered for the position. Its desirable that candidates will be a professionally qualified member of CIOB/RICS although this is not essential.

We are a multi-site organisation, so some roles may require occasional travel between offices, but expenses will be covered.
