A local authority in Slough are recruiting for a Rough Sleeper Worker to work as part of an outreach service to provide support to rough sleepers in the community.

The Role
The primary focus of the Rough Sleeper Worker role is to reduce and maintain low levels of rough sleeping within Slough. This includes working directly with individuals who are rough sleeping or at risk of homelessness to address their immediate needs, connect them with relevant services, and support them in finding long-term housing solutions.

  • Deliver Outreach Services: Provide high-quality daytime and evening assertive outreach services to rough sleepers and those at risk of homelessness.
  • Needs and Risk Assessment: Conduct assessments to identify and meet the individual needs of clients, including health and support services engagement.
  • Client Relocation and Support: Assist clients in relocating or returning to their home areas by involving specialist agencies and promoting their rights, choice, dignity, and independence.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all client interactions and casework, and submit regular reports to the Rough Sleeper Manager or Outreach Coordinator.
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Develop and maintain partnerships with internal and external agencies, such as health services, substance misuse services, police, and probation, to maximize support opportunities for clients.


The Candidate
To be considered for this Rough Sleeper Worker role, you will require the following skills and experience:

  • Experience in Outreach or Homelessness Services: Proven experience working in outreach services or with homeless populations, including conducting street outreach.
  • Needs and Risk Assessment Skills: Ability to perform thorough needs and risk assessments to tailor support plans for individuals.
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build positive relationships with clients, fostering trust and cooperation to achieve the best outcomes.
  • Multi-Agency Working Experience: Experience in working collaboratively with multiple agencies, understanding how to coordinate efforts and services for complex cases.
  • Record-Keeping and Administrative Skills: Competency in maintaining clear and accurate records, and managing administrative tasks related to casework and service delivery.

It is essential you are a driver and have access to a vehicle for work, as well as an enhanced DBS to be considered for this role.

The Contract
This is a temporary the Rough Sleeper Worker vacancy, on an initial 3 month contract which a chance of being extended. The role provides a four week rota for utreach sessions (early morning stating 5 am finishing 14:00 or late nights stating 5 pm and finishing 00:00).
