Summary

Your new company
Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a single form entry primary school in Runcorn as they require a motivated and experienced teaching assistant to support a pupil in Year 3 with SEMH on a 1:1 basis. This is a long-term temporary contract needed due to sickness cover.

Your new role
In your new role as an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting a Year 3 pupil with SEMH on a 1:1 basis. You will be this pupils' main point of contact throughout the school day, meeting them at the school gate and walking them back to their grown-up at the end of the day. You will promote their engagement during lessons by actively playing games with them in the classroom and associating learning material with their interests. You will focus on mindfulness, literacy and numeracy as these have been identified as key focus area's. As this pupil has an EHCP you will regularly liaise with the SENCo, class teacher and parent's/guardians on their progress.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience working with SEN in the last 2 years, as well as:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEMH
  • A calm and passionate approach to learning
  • An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in support teaching and learning is advantageous but not essential
