ESOL Functional Skills Maths Tutor – P/T Permanent Role Gloucester (27.5 plus hours per week)


Prospect Training Services (PTS) are seeking a passionate and committed ESOL Functional Skills maths tutor to join our supportive Study Programmes team. This is a permanent role.

Hours/Days per week: Monday to Friday with working hours of 27.5 hours a week.

As an experienced and qualified ESOL Tutor, you will work with our learners to support them to integrate into their community and support with their progression pathways. You must possess the passion and empathy for working with a diverse group of learners aged 16 – 19 years of age where English is not their first language (ESOL), including young people with additional needs. You will use innovative methods to deliver creative, fun and engaging sessions for maths with a focus on supporting the learners to achieve their Functional Skills maths qualifications from Pre-Entry Level to Level 2.


This role includes full teaching responsibilities, including developing your own curriculum against standards, planning and preparing sessions and marking work. You will be part of regular team meetings, and we will provide you with professional development opportunities.



Required skills and experience for this ESOL FS role:

• L3 (or above) Education and Training teaching qualification
• Desirable L5 CELTA or experience delivering to ESOL Learners
• Assessor Qualification (desirable but not essential)
• Excellent delivery skills and proficient classroom management
• Excellent communication skills and a good command of the English spoken language
• Excellent coordination and organisational skills
• Excellent time management
• Be Innovative, fast thinking and versatile.
• Self-motivated, able to work to performance targets and KPIs
• Good general level of ICT skills including Microsoft Office
