Portobello High School is a six year comprehensive based in the East of Edinburgh with a school roll of over 1400 young people, drawn mainly from five associate primary schools – Brunstane, Duddingston, Parsons Green, Royal High and Towerbank.

In October 2016 the school moved into a superb new building on Milton Road close to rail, bus and road links. The school has well-established links with its community and the proximity of Edinburgh College, four Universities and all that the Scotland’s capital city has to offer gives scope for the development of further partnerships. Significant investment has been made in digital technology to support effective learning and all staff and all young people have their own iPad. This is enhanced by 80” teaching screens connected to Apple TV throughout.

Our improvement plan reflects local CEC and national priorities. There are a wide range of quality opportunities for staff to engage in high quality professional learning. We are firmly committed to raising attainment and promoting achievement and the school offers a wide variety of extra-curricular activities. The school places a great deal of emphasis on the importance of building positive relationships with young people and has introduced a number of innovative approaches to strengthen these. Our #AchievingTogether strategy underpins all we do.
