Summary

Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Cleaner to join our Facilities and Health and Safety Team. As a part-time Cleaner, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment within our laboratory and storage facility. This will include communal areas, corridors, offices and toilets and will also include cleaning laboratory floors and antechambers. Your duties will additionally include restocking cleaning consumables such as hand soap and paper hand towels.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Cleaning Duties:
Perform routine cleaning tasks to ensure a clean and sanitary environment.
Clean laboratory floors, maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
Clean and sanitise antechambers to prevent the spread of contaminants.
Dispose of waste in the appropriate manner.
Follow established cleaning procedures and guidelines.
2. Restocking Supplies:
Regularly check and replace cleaning consumables, including hand soap and paper hand towels.
Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and report when restocking is needed.
Ensure that all restocked items are of high quality and meet health and safety standards.
3. Team Collaboration:
Work as part of the Facilities and Health and Safety Team, cooperating with colleagues to achieve common goals.
Report any maintenance or safety issues to the Cleaning Team Leader.
4. Adherence to Health and Safety Regulations:
Follow all health and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
Properly use and handle cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Attend training sessions related to health and safety as required.

Qualifications:
Previous experience in a cleaning role is preferred, but not mandatory.
Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and products is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication skills for reporting and team collaboration.
Ability to understand and follow health and safety guidelines.

Physical Requirements:
This role involves physical tasks, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying, often involving cleaning equipment and supplies. The candidate should be physically fit and able to perform these tasks safely.

Working Hours:
This is a part-time position with a standard workweek of 20 hours, 7am - 11am from Monday to Friday. Additional hours or weekend work may be required on occasion, especially for leave and sickness cover, special cleaning projects or emergencies.
