Main Purpose of the Role
Working with the management team, this role will take responsibility for the sales growth of Samuel James. You will be required to
work collaboratively with teams from across the business to ensure targets for sales, profit and growth are met. Principally
focused on Infrastructure Rail Contractors, the position will require travel, sometimes at short notice, as and when required.
The role will be accountable for: -
* Maintaining and developing sales, profit and growth for particular Unipart Rail / Samuel James Engineering Customers.
* Understanding, articulating and selling Unipart Rail’s / Samuel James Engineering propositions with your customers.
* Identifying and converting Business Development opportunities across your sector.
* Identifying and managing sales forecasts for your customers/sectors
Spread Of Skills & Analysis Required
The nature of the role is varied and complex with extensive customer and market knowledge. It requires initiative and creative
skills in growing and converting business leads and opportunities. Financial acumen is required to support the development and
review of sales forecasts. The use of the customer engagement tools and application is essential.
Pressure & Working Environment
The role requires considerable concentration, dealing with complex enquiries and sales leads. A consistently high level of quality
of work is required to ensure new business opportunities are maximized. Travel is required for this role and sometimes at short
notice.
Qualifications & Education
A minimum of degree level would ideally be required to operate at this level. Candidates without a degree will be considered but
must have the experience and proven ability as detailed below. The post holder will have demonstrative professional vocational
qualifications in sales/commercial techniques.
Experience & Proven Ability Required
Essential
* General management experience in a multi-site, multi-industry engineering company
* Proven experience of developing and implementing sales strategies
* Demonstrable business development and relationship management experience.
* Excellent commercial knowledge and application
* Strong knowledge of the Unipart Way and a willingness to lead/coach its implementation
* Team player
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
* Self-motivated and able to work without strong guidance in line with Company procedures, delegated authority levels utilizing a
strong moral compass of situational judgment.
Desirable
* Proven experience securing business with Tier 1 & 2 Rail contractors, Essentially you will have closed E & P sales and
understand the rail operating model that is deployed in the rail market.
* Proven track record in the Rail Infrastructure sector and recent experience of operating in the NR regions – with evidence of
building and closing a robust pipeline
* Language Skills
* Knowledge of the Rail Industry
* International Experience
* Formal professional qualification
