Summary

Learning Support Mentor

One of our partnered Alternative Provisions seeks several new Learning Support Mentors for September 2024. These are full-time, long-term positions that transition to permanent roles after a 12-week training period.

Role Overview:

As a Learning Support Mentor, you'll hold a pivotal role in providing assistance to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH). Working closely with students, you'll aim to achieve aspirational and positive outcomes for pupils facing complex SEMH challenges, through high-quality holistic and academic support, ensuring the students' physical and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assess pupils' needs and utilise specialised skills to support their learning and SEMH development.
- Provide one-on-one support to students with complex needs, fostering independence and well-being.
- Cultivate a supportive and inclusive learning environment, promoting social interaction and communication.
- Ensure students' safety and welfare at all times, adhering to relevant protocols and procedures.

Requirements:
- Experience in a care background or similar field, particularly with individuals with SEMH needs.
- Completion of Moving and Handling training or willingness to undertake this course.
- Completion of Team Teach Level 2 training or willingness to undertake this course.
- Possession of an Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
- Supportive, caring, and nurturing personality with a passion for making a difference.
- Reliable and committed to providing high-quality support to individuals with complex needs.
- Flexibility to work with students across all year groups and adapt to varying needs and requirements.
