Summary

TEACHING ASSISTANT (SEN TA)

Post title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Responsible to: Class teachers, SEN Co & Headteacher

Receives instructions from: Class teacher of the SEN pupil

Overall function: To support the class teacher in the management of the classroom and the delivery of the curriculum to a particular child, having regard for pupil confidentiality.

To support inclusion for an individual with behavioural concerns and support them in accessing the curriculum.

Duties carried out will be based on the following list.

Main responsibilities:
- To ensure the safety and well-being of the SEN child in your care.
- To act as a welfare assistant to the SEN child as appropriate.
- To support the ethos of the school, as detailed in the guidance in the PSCHE policy.
- To follow the guidance of the class teacher when involved in curriculum activities, seeking additional clarification, when necessary.
- To support the class teacher with classroom management issues e.g. setting up activities, clearing away materials, mounting and displaying children's work, as appropriate.
- To organise and support the SEN child in areas of the school other than the classroom, when necessary.
- To assist the class teacher with monitoring and recording the SEN child's progress using existing classroom methods, as appropriate.
- To be prepared to take part in school-based performance management systems and to attend appropriate in-service training.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
