About this opportunity

Our Cloud SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) team is looking for an experienced and passionate Engineer with strong hands-on development experience. As a Cloud SRE you'll be an active and leading member of a cloud-focused team of engineers - working on one of the Group's mortgage platform to run and maintain a set of products and services on the Azure CNE Cloud Platform that will enable the business to realise the next generation of services that form the Bank's vision for 2024 and beyond!

Within the Homes Platform we're on a journey to transform our core technology and the technical capabilities of our colleagues. Over the last 2 years we have launched new digital journeys on modern JavaScript frameworks, developed detailed suites of customer journey and analytics, transitioned workloads onto the Cloud and incrementally modernised and simplified our technology estate, whilst embedding DevOps and Agile working practices to enable feature teams to autonomously deploy changes to production themselves.

Lloyds Banking Group is the largest provider of Mortgages in the UK, with over 2 million active Mortgages. We have placed Mortgages at the heart of our strategy to become the best bank for customers.

The role will have accountabilities including:

  • Delivering against Azure and SRE Public Cloud technology roadmaps

  • Collaboratively working with other engineering teams to build, release and evolve enterprise-class solutions, that are reliable and evergreen as cloud technologies continue to mature as a fast-pace

  • The role will require engineers to be responsible for the operations of a large set of Cloud products and services (including 24x7 coverage by participating in on-call rota)

Why Lloyds Banking Group

Like the modern Britain we serve, we're evolving. Investing billions in our people, data and tech to transform the way we meet the ever-changing needs of our 26 million customers. We're growing with purpose. Join us on our journey and you will too.

What you'll need

  • Experience working with a broad set of Azure products (or extensive experience with another Public Cloud platform, such as GCP or AWS)

  • Strong DevOps understanding, including experience of Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines, such as Azure DevOps and HELM, or alternatives such as Terraform and Jenkins.

  • Ability to quickly understand, update and write code in languages such as Python, Groovy, BASH, PowerShell

  • A strong understanding of Cloud security and networking

  • Experience of developing for, or administrating Kubernetes clusters in a production environment

  • Experience in automating/scripting to remove toil

  • Experience in Cloud monitoring tools, preferably Dynatrace

Desirable:

  • Leadership experience including line management, team leadership, mentoring and task management

  • Recent practical experience using SDKs and APIs to deliver automation

  • Certifications in Azure or another cloud platform, such as GCP, AWS

  • Candidates with less direct experience in cloud engineering, who can demonstrate strong skills in other areas such as sysadmin, software engineering or other technology/engineering disciplines who also are able to quickly adapt and pick up new skills will also be considered
