Days and Hours of Work:
Thursday & Friday, 09:00-13:00 & 14:00-17:00
Saturday, 10:00-13:00

The Margaret Oliphant Library sits within Wallyford Learning Campus which opened in August 2023 and the open plan library sits just inside the main entrance and is shared with Rosehill High School. Following introductory opening hours for the community areas of the campus we are now ready to extend our staffed public opening hours. This successful candidate will provide a public library service alongside on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays working alone in the space on Friday afternoons so must be able to work on their own initiative and develop good relationships with colleagues across the campus to provide services in partnership with others.

The post holder will be expected to lead groups for children and adults e.g. Bookbug story, song and rhyme sessions, homework clubs, reading groups, reminiscence groups. Our library teams also support customers to access Council and partner services so the successful candidate will have excellent digital literacy skills and experience of supporting others to develop their own skills.

Our teams work flexibly across our libraries and the successful candidate will be required to cover other libraries across East Lothian when needed.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Educated to ‘Higher’ level, NC or SVQ level 2 in English and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.

Driving Licence
A full current driving licence is desirable for this post.

PVG Membership
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
