Summary


We require a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to join our growing team of Clinical Psychologists offering input to adult female 18 bedded mental health wards within inpatient facilities in Lancashire Care & South Cumbria Foundation Trust. This post would join the clinical team at the newly built Harbour acute inpatient unit. This unit opened March 2015 and is a purpose built state of the art facility equipped to the highest standards.

The post holder will have graduated with at least a 2:1 BSc and have experience of working in an inpatient environment and/or a specialist interest in working within female adult mental health with people with complex mental health problems. The post holder would be supported for a period of 12 months to develop their experience and skills in working in inpatient care. The expectation would be for the post holder to fully progress via a process of supported development and evaluation to be able to provide direct clinical input to patients under supervision and support multidisciplinary teams as appropriate using the clinical application of psychological theory. The post holder would also have the opportunity to work with peers within The Harbour co-facilitating group interventions. The post holder would be supported by access to the locality Consultant Clinical Psychologist Lead.







The Assistant Psychologist role is for Stevenson Female Ward, Inpatient Care Service at The Harbour.

Within The Harbour, the Assistant Psychologist will contribute to the assessment, formulation and interventions of inpatients and their families both on the adult female wards. Data collection and report-writing skills may be utilised in both clinical and service-development contexts.

The Assistant Psychologist will also contribute to the design, development and co-facilitation of group and family interventions at The Harbour. Administration of psychometric assessments and collating information from a range of sources will be central to this role. A key role will be providing skills based individual and group sessions to inpatients.

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.

The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria and Sefton area.
