Summary


We are looking for dynamic and keen Registered Adult, Children's Nurses or midwives to join our dedicated Neonatal team. We have wonderful facilities in our purpose built neonatal and maternity units including excellent family accommodation. We have a dedicated neonatal education team who will help you as you developed in your chosen career pathway.

We are a Level 2 neonatal unit caring for approximately 500 babies per year providing intensive care, high reliable care and special care. We are part of the West Midlands Operational Delivery Network and have strong links with the other Units in the region.

We are able to offer training and help to care for neonates and their families. We have a robust 4 week induction training programme to help you to settle in to the environment.

• To use specialist skills, knowledge and experience to prevent any unnecessary admissions of babies from the post natal wards to the neonatal intensive care unit. This includes the assessment, planning and development, implementation and evaluation of care in conjunction with the midwifery team.
• To work in partnership with the midwifery and neonatal teams to maintain effective communication of information and to ensure and maintain good standards of care. To work in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, especially midwives with the aim of keeping mother and baby together.
• The postholder will manage a caseload of babies on the postnatal ward and transitional care with minor feeding problems, babies requiring phototherapy, small for gestational age, or babies not maintaining an appropriate temperature, or requiring intravenous medication.
• The postholder will use her specialist skills, knowledge and experience to prevent any unnecessary admissions of babies from the post natal wards to the neonatal intensive care unit. This includes the assessment, planning and development, implementation and evaluation of care in conjunction with the midwifery team.
• The postholder will utilise a variety of strategies to communicate effectively with the neonates family/carers, the multidisciplinary team, other departments within the Trust and pertinent agencies outside the organisation. To act as a mentor, teaching and supervising junior staff including student midwives.
