Summary

**Job Title: Health & Safety Officer**
**Location: Stourbridge **
**Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 D.O.E.**
**Hours: Monday-Thursday 07:00 - 16:00 and Friday 07:00 - 13:00**

This role holds the responsibility for the day-to-day tasks relating to Environmental Health & Safety. Striving for best practice and continual improvement in line with business objectives. Working in close conjunction with the Health and Safety Manager to ensure compliance on the below aspects of the role and business.

Responsibilities:


* Lead by example, be a role model and representative of employee Safety for the EHS department and provide help and advice with all Environmental Health and Safety matters
* Assist in the investigation of Accidents, Near Miss and Dangerous occurrences using Root Cause investigation procedures and record findings in detailed reports
* Carry out Environmental Health and Safety audits and inspections in line with schedules
* Monitor and assist the fire warden team with the weekly fire alarm tests and ensure all records are updated on the tracker
* Assist with quarterly fire evacuation tests and ensure all records are updated on the tracker
* Monitor and assist the First Aid team with the weekly first aid station inspections
* Attend and participate in Health and Safety meetings and daily production meetings as required
* Conduct Risk Assessment Reviews and create new Risk Assessments for all departments as required
* Schedule employee training with external training companies
* Conduct employee training and toolbox talks
* Maintain the training matrix
* Review Fire Risk Assessments and ensuring all open actions are addressed with urgency
* Review LOLER and PUWER statutory inspections via the HSB portal and ensure all open actions are addressed with urgency
* Review all pre use check sheets and ensure all points raised are investigated and acted upon with urgency
* Create and review Safe Systems of Work for all departments
* Maintain the COSHH Management system using Chemwatch software, updating Risk Assessments and Safety Data sheets when necessary
* Conduct safety walks to monitor compliance with Safe Systems of Work and PPE requirements
* Assist in the Control of Contractors Procedure ensuring all Risk Assessments, Method Statements, training documents and Liabilities Insurances have been received
* Carry out contractor inductions as required
* Issue PPE to employees and maintain the PPE inventory
* Raise internal purchase requisitions for the EHS department
* Conduct new employee inductions and assist with new employee onboarding process
* Monitor and maintain the Legionella management system using the Advanced Water Portal
* Monthly update of Environmental Health and Safety notice boards with new information including current safety campaign
* Maintain the Environmental Aspects and Impacts Register
* Monitor Environmental waste streams and arrange correct disposal when required
* Attend seminars and safety groups where required
* Always work towards Continuous Improvement
* Any other ad hoc duties as required

Experienced Required:


* Experience - 2 years minimum experience in Health and Safety in a manufacturing environment
* Qualifications - IOSH Managing Safely (minimum). NEbosh General preferred, or working towards
* Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
* Highly organised with an eye for detail and a focus on task completion
* Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
* Good time management
* Use of initiative and self-motivated
* Strong work ethic and resilience
* Excellent communicator at all level
* Team player
* Understanding of manufacturing environments and processes
* A good energy and enthusiasm
* Driving licence and use of vehicle
* Willingness to undertake CPD
