Summary

Job Summary

To oversee and optimize all aspects of York Theatre Royal’s food and beverage operation

To maximize sales and revenue by consistently meeting and exceeding customer expectations

To manage and motivate kitchen and Welcome Team staff to offer an excellent service

Job Description

To manage all food and beverage day-to-day operations to the highest standards and within budgeted guidelines

To oversee the daily operation of the Café, ensuring there are trained staff who can provide a friendly and efficient service to our many audiences and visitors

To manage the evening food operation, to ensure it meets the needs of audiences and optimises time and potential income generation

To manage all aspects of the bar operation, ensuring an efficient and timely service

To work with the Front of House Manager to plan Welcome Team rotas to meet business needs

To work with the Chefs to design and cost exceptional menus, manage stock and improve efficiencies in the kitchen

To oversee and ensure a five star Food Standards Agency Hygiene rating and all Health and Safety requirements, standards and procedures are fulfilled

To liaise with suppliers to consistently control costs

To place orders and process invoices in line with YTR's procedures

To monitor stock control and cellar operations to maintain profit margin

To seek new opportunities to grow YTR's food and beverage offer

To work with the Comms Team on promoting the food and beverage offer

To work with the Front of House Manager and Operations Director on setting targets, KPIs and procedures to meet the needs of the organisation

To regularly report on sales and productivity

To ensure excellent internal communications and proactively nurture a motivated team

To act as Duty Manager as required

To carry out duties as reasonably requested by the Front of House Manager and Operations Director

Job Requirements

Essential

A successful track record of food and beverage management experience

Excellent communication skills

Successful leadership skills and experience of motivating a team, developing staff skills and managing performance

Excellent customer service skills, a drive for genuine customer engagement and impeccable attention to detail

Experience of managing budgets, optimising sales and meeting financial targets

An organised and reliable person with good time management skills

Experience of managing changing priorities and the ability to stay positive during challenging situations

A problem solver, with creative flair and a willingness to go the extra mile

Up to date with food and beverage trends and best practice business

A working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)

An interest in theatre

Desirable

Personal Licence holder

First Aid at Work training certificate holder

Knowledge of dealing with conflict resolution

Training in public space Health & Safety
