Are you an experienced Band 5 or 6 SLT looking for a new and varied challenge in a supportive and dynamic team?

We are excited to offer 2 band 6 permanent posts in the Adult SLT service in the London Borough of Brent.

This rotational post is an exciting opportunity for 2 SLTs to develop specialist skills in a level 2 inpatient neuro-rehabilitation ward and in the community. Your clinical development will be a priority and you will receive regular supervision and continuing professional development opportunities both internal and external. We are a dynamic service with many opportunities for service development in our team, close MDT working and opportunities to develop supervisory skills with an SLT Assistant and students.

We require two Speech and Language Therapist with experience of working with adults with acquired and progressive neurological conditions. You will be competent in both dysphagia and communication and be keen to learn and to develop your assessment and rehabilitation skills. The role requires someone who is a team player and patient-centered with excellent communication skills to manage your own caseload. Ability to prioritize and apply organizational skills are key and you will develop keyworker skills. Flexibility and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment are also essential.

· To prioritise and manage a mainly neurological caseload independently, making differential diagnosis & clinical management decisions on the basis of evidence from assessment frequently weighing up complex clinical management decisions in the context of conflicting clinical indicators, with clinical supervision from the Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist.

· To analyse auditory, visual and kinaesthetic aspects of client’s communication and to identify appropriate strategies to facilitate and enhance communicative effectiveness in the home, at work and other relevant settings

· To demonstrate clinical effectiveness by developing and implementing Specialist Speech and Language Therapy Treatment evidence based practice programmes providing thorough evaluation of clinical outcomes.

· To use clinical judgement and specialist skills to evaluate deterioration in client’s health status communicating effectively the appropriate professionals in a timely manner

· To demonstrate skills in motivating clients and /or carers to engage in the therapeutic process.

· To develop clear unidisciplinary / multidisciplinary clinical protocols based on best practice.

· To actively participate in SLT Triage for new referrals as required with support from Highly Specialist/Lead SLT.
