Main Purpose of Job
Our client’s customer has delivered two ‘on-premise’ multi-tenant cloud hosting platforms to support the digital strategy. There are several live applications on the Hosting platform, a number currently being on-boarded with more being added to the backlog. The service also provides and hosts services that replace / re-platform existing applications along with new services. The cloud hosting services are not static, new services are being introduced to meet demand and requirements for cloud tenants and application providers as required.

The successful candidate will work within across the engineering and service management teams to support service delivery and assist with data centre maintenance. They will act as the single point of contact for the military customer Service Desk for all related incidents, service requests and change requests, ensuring that related incidents and service requests are resolved/fulfilled in line with contractual service level targets. They will additionally monitor and coordinate management of incidents and requests across the customer Infrastructure team and attend Change Advisory Board meetings to represent the customer Infrastructure.

They will provide hands-on management and maintenance of the data centre, including hardware racking, configuration and commissioning and provide administration and integration of COTS hardware and software solutions involving MS Server, Linux and VMWare.

Key responsibilities
Act as the single point of contact for the military customer Service Desk for all related incidents, service requests and change requests.
Ensure customer related incidents and service requests are resolved/fulfilled in line with contractual service level targets.
Monitor and coordinate management of incidents and requests across the customer Infrastructure team.
Attend Change Advisory Board meetings and represent the customer Infrastructure
Utilise Remedy ITSM toolset to raise, update and resolve tickets proactively (training provided)
Utilise Remedy to create smart reports (training provided)
Customer liaison – raising requests and support tickets

Data Centre Management
The administration and integration of COTS hardware/software including MS Server and Linux operating systems
Monitoring for alerts and managing events
Physical maintenance of the data suite
System infrastructure build and integration, project life cycle support and associated test activities
Hardware assembly, configuration, and installation
Provide feedback to Engineering and Service Leads continually improve and maintain development solutions
Supporting more senior engineers

Experience / Skills Required
• Digital project delivery into the MOD and/or central UK Government clients.
• Exposure to highly secure / operational / mission critical environments
• Foundation level knowledge or awareness of IT Service Management (ITIL Best Practice)
• Some experience and knowledge of VMWare and COTS hardware/software including MS Server and Linux operating systems
• Cyber security within IT environments, ideally with MoD and secure environments
• IP Networks, routing and security
• Technical documentation creation
• Awareness of - Scrum and Agile methodologies & Systems Engineering

Attendance onsite at MOD Corsham will be required several days a week, in additional to occasional travel to Portsmouth, and the balance as flexible.
Occasional attendance, roughly monthly, at company offices in Surrey
