Summary

We have the brilliant opportunity for a Kitchen Assistant to join our Briarwood home in Blaydon, Gateshead!
This is a Monday - Friday role, contracted at 15 hours per week. Working hours are 10am until 1pm.
Briarwood is our assessment unit which supports older adults with a diagnosis of dementia or dementia like symptoms. Our team of experienced Staff Nurses and Support Workers assess individuals with differing diagnoses of dementia such as early onset Alzheimer’s disease, Korsakoff’s dementia and vascular dementia.
About the job
As our Kitchen Assistant, your role will be to:

Maintain the kitchen, storage area and dining room, keeping all equipment, work surfaces and floors clean to ensure a high level of cleanliness is kept at all times.
Process online shops to the service users request to assist the relevant service users with meeting their needs and meal planning.
Assist the service users, but ordering meals where required and organising food upon delivery to ensure food hygiene standards are met and users have appropriate menu choices available.
Provide food at particular times, conduct food preparation and ensure prepped meals are delivered throughout the course of each day to ensure fluid/food intake and a balanced nutritious diet.
Inform the relevant manager of any faulty equipment and follow any subsequent instruction to allow smooth operation.
Support with maintenance of all food safety records required by regulatory bodies to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and health and safety.
Support the service user by storing evening meals appropriately and storing deliveries, making sure stock is rotated via used by dates, to ensure accordance with health and safety policies.
Conduct stock check on dry store stock and inform clinical staff of ordering requirements to ensure service users have enough supplies each time.

About you
We would love to hear from you if you possess the following:

Demonstrable experience of basic food preparation
Demonstrable experience of cleanliness standards in a kitchen/food setting
Detailed understanding of Food hygiene and standards
Detailed understanding of relevant Health and Safety policies and procedures
Awareness of nutrition and how to achieve a balanced diet
Awareness of common mental health problems that people may face
