Summary



Logistics Operative - Salary £23,433.00 An opportunity to join an experienced, versatile team, delivering first class services to the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL). Anyone previously security cleared are particularly welcome to apply. Position Overview We are looking for a full-time, versatile, and enthusiastic Logistics Operative at Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, Porton Down, Salisbury, Wiltshire. The successful candidate will fulfil a broad range of physical tasks to facilitate day-to-day logistics operations. The range of activities includes re-location of accommodation stores, receipting items coming in and delivery across site. Moving of scientific equipment between buildings on the site. The successful candidate will have the professional capability to multi-task when and where needed, as required by the business. Training will be given where required. Main Responsibilities • Ensure timely and safe service delivery of heavy and light porterage tasks as directed.• Assist with the loading and unloading of vehicles.• Review incoming deliveries of goods received against invoices for discrepancies.• Experience of delivering a customer faced quality service.• Deliver a range of logistics related tasking.• Undertake other tasks as determined by the Mitie Line Manager including emerging requirements as the business need evolves. This could include interoperable support and/or cover for other Mitie personnel.• Actively promote a safe working culture and adhere to the Health and Safety procedures, processes, Risk Assessments and the law.

What we are looking for A reliable, trustworthy, competent, and physically fit person with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Confident, self-motivated, and able to use own initiative, highly responsive to company and customer requirements. Pro-active and consistent with the ability to adapt quickly to the different needs of the business and: • Proven experience of working in a warehouse / stores environment. (Preferrable)• Capability to multi-task when and where needed, as required by the business.• Working knowledge of Health and Safety requirements• Effective interpersonal communication skills• Flexible approach to accommodate changing requirements and priorities.• Good customer facing skills and the ability to develop close working relationships.• IT Literate with a good working knowledge of MS applications.• Hold a Full UK Driving Licence (Essential) and Forklift training can be provided.

Additional Information

MOD security clearance and DBS Standard required. To meet national security vetting requirements, you will normally need to have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years to gain a Counter Terrorist Check, 5 years for Security Clearance and 10 years for Developed Vetting prior to the date of application. All Developed Vetted posts are required to be UK Nationals.

Proof of right to work in UK essential.

The Contract operates a 37.5 hour working week between the hours of 08.00 to 16.30 Mon to Thurs, 08.00 to 16.00 Fri.

Required to wear approved company work wear.
