JOB DESCRIPTION
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a 18 years old boy with Down’s Syndrome living in the Graigwen area of Pontypridd. I enjoy going to parks, swimming and ten pin bowling. I also enjoy McDonald’s, KFC and The Pottery for food after I have been out. I can’t walk a great distance and I do have a wheelchair to help me out when I am tired. Sometimes I may need a change of clothes when out if I have an accident but that doesn’t happen much these days as I am older.
PURPOSE OF JOB
I am looking for someone to take me out and about for some fun. I am looking for someone who could take me out after school one day in the week and for a couple of hours on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon.
PLACE OF WORK
In and around the area of Pontypridd
HOURS OF WORK
7 hours 30 mins term time with an additional 4 hours during school holidays
RATE OF PAY
Meets NMW including mileage where applicable
TASKS INVOLVED
• Keeping me safe
• Taking me to places I would like to go
• Going out for food
• Some personal care help my be need but not very often though
• Going swimming with me
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
• Someone who can drive and has access to a vehicle (essential)
• Someone who has similar interests
• Someone who has a fun outlook on life
• Someone who is friendly and social
• Someone who is willing to learn about my needs and abilities
ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
